Befriending

The Forum offers befriending services by telephone and face to face. The scheme offers support to people over 50 in the Telford & Wrekin area, who would benefit from regular contact.

Telephone Chat Scheme

Volunteers call at regular times for a friendly chat and to check that people are coping. The scheme has been proven to make a difference in terms of feeling less lonely and isolated, and that someone cares and has the time to listen and chat.

It may be that you’re feeling isolated, a little anxious or depressed, or that you don’t know how to find social connection. However, you don’t need to fall into these categories to use the service, it may just be that you’d welcome someone to chat to on a regular basis. Or you may wish to be a volunteer caller, and help someone else and at the same time, benefit yourself too.
