The Forum offers support and befriending services to people over 50 in the Telford & Wrekin area, who would benefit from regular contact, companionship, help getting out and about or help at home (excludes personal care).
Home Support & Help Getting Out
We are offering help delivered through regular face to face contact to:
- Provide company and support for those who are housebound, encouraging ways in which they might increase connection from home.
- Help people to build trust and confidence to explore going out – through a regular home visit or being accompanied on a gentle walk or trip to the park, shops or café. The support worker will to talk to you about your interests and what you would like to do, such as trying out a group activity. They’ll help you find out more about the group and even accompany to the first session.
- Provide support for people with more complex needs, through company, getting out, managing at home. This does not include personal care.

Telephone Chat Scheme
Volunteers call at regular times for a friendly chat and to check that people are coping. The scheme has been proven to make a difference in terms of feeling less lonely and isolated, and that someone cares and has the time to listen and chat.
It may be that you’re feeling isolated, a little anxious or depressed, or that you don’t know how to find social connection. However, you don’t need to fall into these categories to use the service, it may just be that you’d welcome someone to chat to on a regular basis. Or you may wish to be a volunteer caller, and help someone else and at the same time, benefit yourself too.
