Emotional Wellbeing Workshops

Forum 50+ in partnership with Alix K Therapies is offering an opportunity to come together with others for discussion about various aspects of emotional health, as well as learning calming techniques and mindfulness practices.

We are planning to run sessions monthly and are currently taking bookings for the next two, as well as an online session (the online sessions is a repeat or our introductory in-person sessions on 14th and 28th February).

This is a fully inclusive project open to anyone over 50 in Telford & Wrekin and nearby areas. The sessions are free, informal, sociable, non-judgemental and confidential. There’ll be no obligation to share what you’re feeling or what you’re coping with.

Reserve your place on any of the sessions, as many as you wish, by completing the form below. Please get in touch if you have any questions.

“I’m usually the type of person who ‘just gets on with things’. I’ll always seek advice and help with physical problems and sickness but when it comes to my emotional well being I neglect myself. Alix has made the workshops very welcoming and you’re not judged. It’s easy to worry that people will laugh at you or think you’re stupid especially with anxiety. I have found it very easy to open up and participate in the workshops. I would definitely encourage others to try and come to a session. Whatever happens there stays within those four walls and nobody judges you.”

We’ll be looking at facing change, which, whether large or small, inevitably brings about losses leading to a range of emotional responses that knock our confidence and resilience, and sometimes feel hard to bear.

Possible changes include losing a loved one, receiving a diagnosis or suffering illness progression and decreasing mobility. We may have retired from employment or no longer be able to drive, have moved home, maybe to a new area, become more isolated. Or it may be that we just feel more anxious and less resilient about coping with things that we used to find easy or perhaps we’re struggling in general with the challenges of growing older.

We’ll be including a mindfulness exercise, looking at how we can challenge negative thought processes about change and loss.

Friday 9th May, 10.30am – 12.00pm, at Jubilee House, 74 High Street, Madeley TF7 5AH.

This will be our first online workshop for anyone not able to attend in person or who prefers to attend from home. It will be a repeat of our introductory sessions, where we introduce the Emotional Wellbeing Workshops project and learn about EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique).

Friday 23rd May, 10.30am – 12.00pm, by Zoom (we will send you a link to join the session.

At this session we’ll be looking at support services available locally. We’ll be welcoming Rajni Chanian from Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin NHS Talking Therapies service.

Friday 6th June, 10.30am – 12.00pm, at Jubilee House, 74 High Street, Madeley TF7 5AH.
